8 Classic Indian Movies Every Nigerian Has Probably Watched

Nigerians love Bollywood

Indian movies are quite huge in Nigeria. Real Bollywood fans know the name of the actors, the lyrics to the song, and can even say the lines word for word. Here are some Bollywood movies that were really popular in Nigeria.

 

1. ‘I hate love stories’

This is one of the fairly recent Indian movies. It’s a romantic comedy that tells the story of A cynical assistant director must work with a cheery production designer (Sonam Kapoor) who adores romantic films.

 

2. ‘Mard’

This movie is about Raju who was separated from his biological parents as a child. He falls in love with the daughter of one of the people who separated him from his parents, and a lot of drama ensues.

 

3. ‘Three Idiots’

Three idiots is quite a hilarious movie. It’s about two buddies who are looking for their lost buddy.

4. ‘Yeh Vaada Raha (Sunita)’

This movie is quite touching. It tells the story of Vikram and Sunita who plan to marry. Vikram’s. mother opposes it because of Sunita’s poor background. They decide to go through with the wedding anyway, but on their way to the temple, they are both injured in a car accident.

5. ‘Teri Meherbaniyan’

This movie is about a dog who takes revenge on behalf of his dead master.

 

6.  ‘Kush Kush Hota Hai’

This is another popular Indian Romantic comedy. It features Bollywood’s golden boy Shahrukh Khan. It’s about a dead woman who leaves letters asking her daughter to play matchmaker for her father and his college friend.

 

7. ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’

This movie is about Yash Raichand, a wealthy business man married to Naina Raichand. They have two sons, Rahul and Rohan. Rahul is adopted and falls in love with a poor girl named Anjali. His dad forbids their love because he wants him to marry his friend’s daughter. Rahul marries Anjali, so his dad kicks him out of the house. He moves to London with Anjali, Pooja (her young sister), and his nanny. When Rohan graduates from school, he insists on reuniting the family.

 

 

8. ‘Sholay’

Sholay is about a police officer whose family is murdered by a notorious and ruthless bandit. He enlists the services of two outlaws to capture the bandit.
