Here Is What Happened Last Night With Wizkid

It’s Wizkid‘s world and we all are just living in it. The international Nigerian superstar made history when he sold out the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London last night as part of the organization’s Albert Sessions, a scheme that helps young world class artistes who haven’t headlined the venue before to have a shot.

It’s the first time a pop star from Africa has sold out at that venue. Naija to the world!

The capacity crowd had to wait for almost two hours before he took the stage, causing some fans to wonder why Nigerian artistes never seem to be able to be on time- even on a historic night such as this.

Wizkid took his time but when he did, he shut it down. His one hour set took the crowd back to his beginnings with EME and through his ascension as Africa’s number one artiste. He also brought out former Mohits/Mavin star Wande Coal to share the moment with him.
The show was broadcast live on his official Facebook page. The show went on and on. When he eventually performed Ojuelegba, the hall went wild. He had to perform it twice when his fans asked for it. Although when he performed Come Closer, Drake was (again) a no show but who cared; Starboy had come to show he’s the world’s gift from Nigeria.
The show eventually came to an end more than an hour later.

Wizkid is the first African pop musician to sell out at the iconic arena. As he closed, he told the audience that his next move is to sell out the O2 Arena next year. Hopefully he can do the same in Nigeria too..
