Doctors Reveal Why Baby Was Born Complete With Set Of Seven Teeth

- An Indian baby was recently born complete with set of seven teeth

- Doctors said it was the first time baby was born with fully grown teeth

- The toddler's teeth were extracted through surgery. But what could have contributed to the unusual condition?

An Indian woman recently gave birth to a baby boy with set of seven teeth in his lower gum, the first of his kind in the world.

The baby, named Prayan Sharma, was reportedly born with an infection and rushed to intensive care unit (ICU) in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, western India, where he was taken care of.

“As soon as my son was born he was taken to ICU because he had an infection. His mother wasn’t able to breastfeed him at first,” says Harish, his 31-year-old father.

The parents learned about their toddler’s seven fully grown teeth when the 31-year-old mum, Nikita, tried to breastfeed him.

“His mother noticed something unusual in his mouth. It was a big surprise,” says Harish.

However, Dr Mmeet Rramatri, a paediatric dentist at Child Dental Care, told the parents that it wasn’t something to worry so much about.

“It’s very rare to find a baby born with one tooth. Seven is a first in the world,” the doctor said, adding that the teeth had to be extracted or the baby could end up swallowing them because they were already loose.

The medics attributed the unusual condition to malnutrition during pregnancy or a possible genetic condition.
